Purpose

As part of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation's continuing exploration of slavery at Monticello, The Monticello Community has been invited to participate in the opening of the reinterpreted Mulberry Row, celebrating the culmination of years of excavation and research. This also builds off of Gathering I in July 2007.

Schedule (tentative)

Friday

Afternoon registration and an evening welcome reception (location TBD)

Saturday

Monticello's special Mulberry Row event exploring the working life of Monticello. The day will also include speakers, discussion groups, workshopes, and displays on a variety of interesting subjects. The day culminates with a reception that evening on Monticello's West Lawn.

Sunday

Morning service at Monticello.

Transportation

Arriving by air:
Charlottesville is served by the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO), Washington Dulles International (IAD), National (DCA) & Richmond International (RIC).

Arriving by train:
Amtrak serves Charlottesville, Washington, DC and Richmond

Arriving by car:
Charlottesville is 2.5 hours from Washington, DC and 1 hour from Richmond.
